Khartoum, Mar 28 (SUNA) – The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan briefed yesterday on IGAD’s Initiative for realization of peace and stability in Sudan.
This came when Al-Burhan met yesterday in the Republican Palace, the IGAD’s Special Envoy for the Republic of South Sudan Ambassador. Dr. Ismail Wais.
The IGAD Envoy said in press statements following the meeting that General-Al-Burhan welcomed the initiative, affirming his support to its goals.
He appreciated the efforts being exerted by the Sudanese leadership of the IGAD for achieving stability and peace in South Sudan through the process of confidence building between the parties.
Dr. Wais pointed out that the meeting discussed the challenges facing the process of implementing the provisions of the security arrangements of the revitalized Juba Agreement, praising the Sudan’s efforts in submitting proposals that contribute to the implementation of the agreement and the sustainability of peace and stability in South Sudan.
He indicated the IGAD role in treatment of the challenges facing the region, describing the meeting with the head of TSC as encouraging and fruitful.
