Al-Burhan praises role of Troika group in boosting peace in Sudan 

Khartoum, June 8 (SUNA)- President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council Gen. Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan has commended the role being assumed by the Troika countries in enhancing the process of peace and stability in the Sudan.

This came when Al-Burhan received at his office in the Republican Palace today the visiting delegation of the Troika countries that includes envoys of US, UK and Norway Donald Booth, Robert Fairweather and Endre Stiansen respectively.

The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council hailed the efforts being exerted by the group for supporting the transitional period, indicating that its signing today here of Juba agreement on peace in Sudan besides the IGAD is considered as a step in the march of Sudan towards openness to the international community.

Head of the delegation, US envoy Donald Booth, explained in a press statement that the meeting discussed ways of extending political support to the transitional government by the Troika in a way that realizes the aspirations of the Sudanese people for peace, stability and development, describing the meeting as fruitful.

Mr. Booth affirmed full support of the Troika for the government for enhancing the ongoing session of peace talks in Juba, capital of South Sudan, between the Government of the Sudan and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North-Abdelaziz Al-Hilu.
