Khartoum, Oct. 11 (SUNA) – The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Gen. Abdul-Fattah Al-Burhan, has renewed the keenness to achieve a national consensus and expanding the base of political participation by involving all the revolutionary and national forces, except the dissolved National Congress Party.
Addressing the officers, non-commissioned officers and men of Khartoum North Military Area on Monday, Gen. Al-Burhan stressed that the Armed Forces will protect the transitional period until free and fair elections are held, in which the Sudanese people choose who governs them. He referred to attempts to exclude the Armed Forces from the transitional scene, including what concerns it in accordance with what was stated in the constitutional document.
Al-Burhan affirmed that the leadership of the security and military services will not be subject to the current quotas, and whoever decides on them is the one who is chosen by the people through elections.
He lauded the great sacrifices given by the Armed Forces, the Rapid Support Forces and other regular forces despite the circumstances that the country is going through, stressing the General Command’s keenness to improve the living situation of the military individual and his work environment.
