APART VS A PART

Apart and a part are often confused because they sound the same but have completely different meanings.

Apart

The word apart is mostly used to show separation between two or more things.

For example: He was apart from his family for 2 weeks while he was on holiday in Sudan.

A part

1. A part (two words) can either mean a piece of a larger part or a larger whole.

For example: Can I get a part of that cake? I really like chocolate.

2. In theatrical terms, it can mean a role that is played by an actor.

For example: When an actor chooses a part in a movie, he must consider the characters accent in speech.
