Arab Parliament supports Sudanese -Egyptian efforts to preserve water security 

Cairo, Mar. 5 (SUNA) – The President of the Arab Parliament, His Excellency Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al-Asoumi, has affirmed the Arab Parliament’s full support for the efforts of Egypt and the Sudan to preserve their fixed water and legal rights affirmed by all relevant international laws and bilateral agreements, affirming that the water security for both countries is an integral part of Arab national security.

The President of the Arab Parliament added that both Egypt and Sudan have proven to the whole world over the past years their utmost keenness and insistence on the success of negotiations in accordance with the principle of achieving benefit for all, which was reaffirmed by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, during his recent meeting with the President of the State of Guinea-Bissau, and his indication on Egypt’s position regarding reaching a fair and binding agreement to fill and operate the Renaissance Dam through negotiations.

He called on the Ethiopia party not to implement the second phase of filling the Renaissance Dam before reaching a binding and fair legal agreement regulating the filling and operation of the dam, stressing that it is the only way to reach a just and final solution to the crisis.

His Excellency Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al-Asoumi, reaffirmed the Arab Parliament’s firm position regarding its solidarity and its complete stand with the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Republic of Sudan for protecting their water security.
