Comprehensive Population, Housing and Agricultural Censuses In Red Sea Launched 

Port-Sudan, Sep.19(SUNA)-The Wali(governor) of the Red Sea State, Engineer Abdalla Shangrai has launched the work of  conducting  the Sixth Population and Housing Census and the Comprehensive Agricultural Census in the State  under the theme-Census  for the Sake of Development.

The Wali underscored, while he was addressing the launching ceremony  which was held in the  Peace Hall in Port-Sudan Sunday, the importance  of the two projects  in formulating plans, programs and policies  for achievement of the sustainable development, enhancement of the government performance , democratic transition and early preparation for elections.

The launching ceremony was attended by a delegation from  the federal government  led by Assistant of the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, members of the state government, Director of the Central Statistics Bureau  and Director of the Statistics Bureau in the State.  

The Assistant of the Minister of the Cabinet Affairs, Shehab-Eddin Ibrahim indicated to keenness and concern of the government of the transitional period  with success of the two projects  for supporting  the economic social and cultural projects in the  country  by providing precise data and  information that help in drawing up plans, programs  and policies  to help in issuing the right  decisions  as it was stipulated in the Constitutioanl Document  and  in line  with the international conventions in order to reach the balanced development  and implementation  of the task of the transition  for the new Sudan within framework of the glorious December revolution  and its slogan-freedom, peace and justice.

Shehab said the census was a national issue that  found concern  from the Council of Ministers , stressing the government of the transitional period support to  the two projects and appreciating  the role of government of the Red State and all who contributed  to  implementation of the two projects.

 Director of the Central Statistics Bureau, Ali Mohamed Abbas affirmed  keenness of the Bureau and the partners  over  success of the two projects  in order to provide database and precise information  that help in achievement of sustainable development.

 The launching ceremony was also addressed by representative of the Ministry of Federal Government Chamber, Director of the Statistics Bureau in the State and representative of  the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and forestry.
