The Council of Transitional Period Partners, chaired by the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lt. Gen. Abdul-Fattah Al-Burhan, has welcomed the signing of the Declaration of Principles agreement between the transitional period government and the People’s Movement – North led by Abdul-Aziz Al-Hillo, and considered it a positive step towards the second phase of peace and established an important framework for the completion of peace.
In a press statement, the spokesperson of the council, Dr. Mariam Al-Saddiq Al-Mahdi, said that the Transitional Period Partners Council underscored the importance of benefiting from the lessons learned from the Juba peace agreement, indicating that some members have expressed observations to contribute to the enhancement of the agreement in a way that makes the peace comprehensive.
She explained that the council stressed the need to speed up the formation of negotiation committees and mechanisms.
She said that the Council of Partners was briefed on the proposed initiative from the sisterly United Arab Emirates on the borders with neighboring Ethiopia, and welcomed the qualification of Sudan National Team for the finals of the African Nations Cup and wished more victories for it.
Dr. Mariam indicated that that the meeting held on Monday was attended by all representatives of the parties, with the absence of some members due to their infection with Covid-19, which is now placing the country and the people in very severe conditions.
She said that all state organs are working to fight the epidemic, top of them is the country’s White Army (the doctors), who are exerting appreciable efforts to combat the coronavirus pandemic after start of the vaccination campaigns which are supervised by the Ministry of Health and through efforts from a number of national and international initiatives and from friends and brothers who provided these vaccines.
She said that the council has wished quick recovery for all the infected persons and called on the citizens to adhere to the health precautions.
