Court trying June 30 coup plotters adjourns session for two weeks 

The court trying plotters of June 30, 1989 coup resumed its sittings at the Police Officers Training Center her today amid tight security measures.

Defense lawyers presented a plea to the court to adjourn its session due to COVID-19 pandemic after defendant Nafie Ali Nafie got infected with the disease, besides another request to the effect that a person who undertook investigations with the defendants shall not be a representative for the prosecution in the trial.

Chief of the prosecution team in the trial argued that the Criminal Procedure Law gives the public prosecution the right to represent the prosecution in courts and undertaking investigations at the same time.

The court decided at the end of its sitting to adjourn its session for two weeks as of today, March 9, 2021.
