Daglo and Perthes Discuss Establishment of Joint Peacekeeping Forces 

Khartoum, June 16 (SUNA) – The First Vice – President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and head of the higher national committee for following up implementation of Juba peace agreement, Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, has expressed Sudan thanks and appreciation of the great support it is finding from the UN Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS).

During his meeting at his office in the Republican Palace Wednesday with a delegation of UNITAMS headed by Volker Perthes, Daglo briefed the delegation on the implementation of the Juba Agreement for the Peace in Sudan, praising the continuous communication that the mission is making with the government.

In a press statement, the Head of UNITAMS, Volker Perthes, said that the meeting discussed a number outstanding issues related to the implementation of the Juba Agreement for the Peace in Sudan.

He said that the First Vice – President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council informed him that the higher national committee for following up the implementation of the Juba Peace Agreement will issue important decisions in the coming days regarding formation of the joint peacekeeping forces that will be composed of the regular forces and peace partners.  

The Head of UNITAMS said that these decisions will receive great concern from the international community, which is monitoring developments in Sudan, especially with regard to the implementation of the Juba Peace Agreement.
