Khartoum, Feb.9 (SUNA) – Prime Minister, Dr. Abdalla Hamdouk , on Tuesday, made telephone calls with some international leaders and officials on regional issues.
Dr. Hamdok, in a phone call with Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, whose country holds the UN Security Council seat for the African group during this session, discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and regional situations, and the Prime Minister provided an explanation to the Kenyan president about the request to expand mediation in the Renaissance Dam file to become a quadripartite by joining The United Nations, the United States of America and the European Union as well as the African Union
He also, received phone call from the United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guterres on local and regional developments including the Renaissance Dam File.
The UN Chief reiterated support for the democratic transition process in Sudan, lauding the recent economic taken by the government and expressing hope it will contribute to the improvement of the economic situation in the country.
Dr. Hamdouk, also made a phone call to the High Representative for Foreign and Security Affairs of the European Commission, Mr. Joseph Borrell, and discussed the situation in the country and the region.
The EU Official expressed the European Union’s strong support for the democratic transition and comprehensive peace in the country, describing the process of democratic transition in Sudan is a top priority for the European Union.
