Khartoum, Aug. 7 (SUNA) – Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Dr. Al-Hadi Idris, chaired on Saturday at the Republican Palace a meeting of the higher committee for following up the implementation of the Juba peace agreement for peace in Sudan – Darfur track.
The senior negotiator for Darfur track, Ahmed Tugod, said in a press statement that the meeting discussed the security developments in Darfur and the expected results of the investigation committee that arrived in Al-Fasher on Saturday to take a decision in this regard.
He indicated that the meeting directed the joint higher military committee for the security arrangements to take all the necessary measures to complete and form mechanisms for implementing the security arrangements agreement, and stressed the need to provide it with sufficient financial resources to enable it to perform its tasks in the required way.
He said that the meeting assured the importance of reviewing the status of the non-main movements that signed the Juba agreement for peace in Sudan, which are included in the security arrangements clause, provided that what applies to the main movements applies to them, and then to refer this issue to the higher national committee to follow up implementation of the Juba agreement for peace in Sudan.
