Khartoum, Sep.2 (SUNA)-Foreign Minister Dr. Mariam Al Sadiq Al-Mahdi has renewed Sudan’s Government commitment to Lakes States regional initiative to combat illegal trade on natural resources in Great Lakes States Region.
This came when the Minister addressed today in Khartoum the conclusion day of regional workshop of combating illegal trade on natural resources at Lakes States.
Meanwhile Dr. Mariam called on UN and the Organization of Lakes States to support Sudan’s capacity building and encouraged youth and woman to work in mining sector.
United Nations Secretary-General Special Envoy for the Great Lakes Region Huang Xia on his part hailed Sudan for hosing the workshop and affirmed commitment of UN to boost capabilities of Lakes States Region and assist them in the field of mining to combat illegal trade on natural resource besides fighting the passive movements in the region .
