Hamdok: Security services assume important role in democratic rule
Prime Minister Dr. Abdalla Hamdok has affirmed that security services assume important role in the democratic rule and boosting stability.
Addressing officers of the General Intelligence Service (GIS) at the headquarters of the service today, the Prime Minister said that the slogans of the Glorious December Revolution of Freedom, Peace and Justice constituted the compass that guide the transition, explaining that the Sudanese model for transition is based on understanding and united vision between the civilian , the military and the forces of the people.
Dr. Hamdok affirmed that the government had mapped out its priorities after thorough discussions, top of them are the economy, peace and reform of all the security organs.
The Prime Minister added that the government aspired for a professional and highly qualified general intelligence service, indicating that the openness process of the country and its removal from the list of states sponsoring terrorism avail an opportunity for the GIS to maintain contact with all its counterparts in the world, affirming that Sudan is qualified to be one of the best states in the region.
For his part, GIS Director Lt. Gen. Jamal Abdel-Majeed, affirmed that the visit of the Prime Minister to the service comes at a time when the country is witnessing a major transformation, affirming readiness of GIS to assume its national role to support change and achieve the goals of the glorious revolution, stability and commitment to the duties stipulated in the Constitutional Document.
The GIS Director said that they engaged in restructuring the service and training of its cadres to boost security and stability according to the tasks assigned to it according to the Constitutional Document.
It is noteworthy that the meeting was attended by Cabinet Affairs Minister Eng. Khalid Omer Yusuf.
