Khartoum, Sept. 23 (SUNA) – A joint meeting of the Sovereignty Council and the Council of Ministers, chaired by President of the Sovereignty Council Gen. Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan in the presence of Prime Minister Dr. Abdalla Hamdok, approved today the amended state budget for the year 2021.
Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Dr. Gibril Ibrahim said in a press statement that this budget is the budget approved by the state this year, but needs have necessitated its amendment after the change in the exchange rate besides the adjustments that occurred in prices. He pointed out that the government found that there is a need to rearrange the budget in order to meet the requirements of running the state for the remainder of the current year.
Dr. Ibrahim said that the aim of this amendment is to reduce the budget deficit and borrowing from the banking system, in addition to fulfilling the compensation of state workers and ensuring that Sudan’s foreign obligations are met.
