Khartoum, June 27 (SUNA) –Defendant Ashraf Al-Tayeb Abdel- Mutalab, aka Abgaigha,was convicted, today by the special court of killing Martyr Hassan Mohammed Omar and sentenced him to death by hanging.
The court chaired by Appeal Court Judge convicted the defendant under articles No 130 and 186 of the Criminal Law, premeditated murder and crimes against humanity respectively.
Abgaigha was convicted of shooting dead Hassan Mohammed Omar during the December 25th, 2018 procession.
A legal source told SUNA this was the first conviction issued by a Sudanese court under the article of crimes against humanity.
