Sinja, Oct.17(SUNA)- The levels of the Blue Nile waters in the city of Sinja continued to rise for the fourth day consecutively , as it recorded today (Sunday) 16,18 centimeters, 13 centimeters more than the yesterday’s level.
The rise has disrupted all the irrigation pumps in the irrigated schemes in the state of Sennar, while the owners of orchards treated their irrigation units so as not to be affected.by this sudden increase.
Wali (governor) of Sennar State Al-Mahi Mohamed Suleiman said in a statement to SUNA that more efforts should be made locally and federally to address the issue of stabilization of water levels between Roseires and Sennar dams to preserve the irrigation pumps and resume irrigation operations to save the agricultural production, which is in its last phases and in need of irrigation.
He added that the Irrigation Undersecretary had reassured him that the effort is continuing with the dams officials to address the issue of water levels.
