Juba, May 26 (SUNA) – The Advisor of South Sudan President for Security Affairs and head of South Sudan mediation, Tut Gulwak, has announced completion of All arrangements for the start of the official direct negotiation round between the transitional government and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement – North at 09:00 a.m. on Thursday, in the presence of mediation.
The two parties held a joint meeting on Wednesday evening at the Pyramid Hotel in Juba, the capital of the Republic of South Sudan, which included the delegation of the southern mediation, in the presence of the member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and head of the government delegation, and the Adviser Tut Gulwak.
In a press statement, Gulwak said that the opening sitting of the negotiations was attended by the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Gen. Abdul-Fattah Al-Burhan, the President of the Republic of South Sudan, Gen. Salva Kiir, and the Prime Minister Dr. Abdalla Hamdouk.
The head of the southern mediation called on the negotiating parties to work towards achieving peace in light of the current positive atmosphere, referring to the commitment of all parties to boost the peace and stability efforts.
He indicated that the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement – North will present a memorandum in tomorrow’s session for discussion and negotiation about it through the various committees.
