Al-Fahir, Sept. 14 (SUNA) – Governor of Darfur Region Meni Arko Menawi has commended initiatives that are made by the African Center for Governance, Peace and Transition Studies in organizing training workshops that aim at boosting the peace-building process, calling for giving due concern to women and youth sectors as they represent key elements in the process.
This came when Governor Menawi addressed here today opening session of a workshop on peace-building and protection of civilians, organized by the African Center for Governance, Peace and Transition Studies.
Menawi stressed importance of maintaining national dialogue in a serious manner, not like what had taken place in the defunct era.
He directed development of programs to recover from war woes.
For his part, the Secretary General of the African Center for Governance, Peace and Transition Studies, Dr. Mahmoud Zainalabdin, said the three-day training session tackles a number of working papers that include human rights, the international humanitarian law, strategic planning and peace-building besides the role of the local communities in the process as well as national strategies for protection of civilians.
