Khartoum, Oct. 20 (SUNA) – Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Professor Yassir Abbas, head of the committee assigned by the Prime Minister to continue efforts to reach understandings that open the way to address the crisis in eastern Sudan has affirmed that the committee is in contact with the Chairman of the High Council of Beja Chieftains Mohamed Al-Amin Tirik, who expressed his welcome to the committee.
Prof. Abbas pointed out in a statement to the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) that Tirik expressed welcome to the positive signals that came in the address of Prime Minister Dr. Abdalla Hamdok, which included the bases for addressing the social, economic and political roots to solve the issue of eastern Sudan.
He said that the positive spirit showed by Nazir Tirik in his recent interview to the Sudan Television opened better prospects for continuing the dialogue to reach solutions to address the just issues of eastern Sudan.
Prof. Abbas valued the positive and sincere efforts made by the UNITAMS and the international community in Sudan to narrow differences and provide future guarantees to support peace and economic development in eastern Sudan.
