Khartoum, Aug. 4 (SUNA) – The US State Department said that Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, has spoken with Sudanese Prime Minister, Abdalla Hamdouk on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, about the conflict in the Ethiopian Tigray region, and they agreed to push the parties towards negotiations leading to a ceasefire there.
Reuters quoted US State Department spokesman, Ned Price, as saying that the two officials discussed “the widening scope of armed confrontation in the Ethiopian Amhara and Afar regions, the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Tigray region, and the reported entry of Eritrean forces back into Ethiopia, a matter which affects stability in the region.
