South Sudan’s mediation affirms seriousness of peace negotiations’ parties to reach peace 

 Juba, June 11 (SUNA) – The head of the South Sudan’s Mediation Committee, Tut Galwak, Advisor of the President of the State of South Sudan for Security Affairs, held a joint meeting today in his office with the delegations of the transitional government and the SPLM-N, al- Hilu.

Tut Galwak , noted in press statements following the meeting with parties of the ongoing peace process to discuss the outstanding issues and reach solutions, indicating that 19 points where contentious with the achievement of a tangible progress.

He stressed the seriousness of the two parties to reach peace, indicating that the negotiations are proceeding in a good manner, adding: “The change that occurred in Sudan requires  the help of all parties to achieve peace,”  asserting that the change is linked to peace , indicating that the role played by mediation in achieving the Juba Agreement for peace of Sudan was great.

Galwak has called on the two sides to move forward in advancing the negotiations in order to sign the framework agreement, emphasizing confidence in the transitional government and the SPLM-N , al- Hilu.

the government delegation, headed by the member of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Mohamed Hassan Al-Ta’aishi, and the delegation of the SPLM- North al- Hilu, headed by its Secretary-General Ammar Amoun.

The Secretary-General of the SPLM-North, al- Hilu, said that the mediation initiated new mechanisms for dialogue on the remaining issues, represented in the formation of specialized and technical committees from the two parties to discuss these issues to bring views closer.

He indicated the tangible progress made in the 19 outstanding points, affirming continuation of negotiations between the two parties, stressing: “there is tangible progress in the negotiation process because of the mechanisms created by the mediation committee.”

On his part, the Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the government official spokesman of the government delegation, Engineer Khaled Omer, expressed appreciation to President Salva Kiir Mayardit sponsorship to the negotiations, and for the great role of the South Sudan’s mediation headed by Tut Galwak in bushing the peace process.

The Cabinet Minister has confirmed the good progress made in the remaining points of which an understanding was reached on four of them, pointing to the spirit of the two parties that affirms an opportunity to reach a framework agreement that forms a solid basis for entering into three files represented in the political, humanitarian and security file.

The spokesman of the government’s negotiation team indicated continuation of the negotiations’ session tomorrow, with the continuation of the two parties’ internal consultations, and the communication with mediation, indicating optimism, and has great will and determination to reach a real peace agreement that addresses the roots of the problem and establishes sustainable peace in Sudan.
