The General Director of the Police Forces, Lt. Gen. (police) Khalid Mahdi, has chaired the 44th conference of Arab Police and Security Commanders held in the Republic of Tunisia through video conference, in the presence of the Secretary General of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, Dr. Ali Koman, the Arab police and security commanders.
Lt. Gen. (police) reviewed Sudan paper and praised the efforts of the Secretary General of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers and his assistants in the General Secretariat of the Council for the serious efforts in preparing for conferences toward enhancing the cooperation and relations and to promote the mechanisms for joint Arab security work, in addition to the efforts of the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences in establish frameworks for raising the police and security capabilities and skills in the Arab.
He pointed out that the conference convenes in unprecedented security and health conditions due to the coronavirus pandemic that has overwhelmed the world and imposed great responsibilities on the police and security services, and the mandate to the police forces to implement curfews, quarantine and social distancing measures, besides their work in combating terrorism and drug crimes, smuggling, monopoly, human trafficking and cybercrime.
He said that these challenges require Arab security cooperation and the creation of modern means of work in line with the requirements of the current stage and the national legislations, plans and mechanisms for the exchange of information to combat all kinds of crime.
He stressed the importance of drafting an interim plan to implement the Arab strategy to confront information technology crimes at a time when these crimes are witnessing an unprecedented and rapid increase.
It is to be noted that the conference agenda includes items on distinguished security experiences, the recommendations of conferences of heads of security sectors, the meetings of committees held at the level of the General Secretariat and a report on the work of the Arab Police Sports Federation.
