Sudan doctors: At least 124 injured at Sunday demo 

February 1 – 2022 KHARTOUM, The Socialist Doctors Association in Sudan has recorded 124 injuries following the January 30 March of Millions, including injuries from live ammunition, tear gas, and rubber bullets.

In a field report yesterday, the Association said that 111 demonstrators were wounded in Khartoum and 13 in Khartoum North, including five hit by live ammunition. It also noted the death Mohamed Yousef Ismail of the Omdurman Wad Nubawi Resistance Committee in the Khartoum demonstrations on Sunday.

The Khartoum Police Press Office confirmed the death of one of the demonstrators. They said that police officer with the rank of Captain was seriously wounded. Another 62 policemen and seven protesters were injured on January 30, the official Khartoum police statement says.

The statement indicated the detention of 56 people who it described as ‘rioters’. It accused a number of demonstrators of storming the Central Omdurman Police Station and damaging windows, glass, furniture and drinking water coolers in the station, but the police used tear gas and were able to control the situation.
