Kosti, March 29 (SUNA) – Acting Wali (governor) of White Nile State Omer Al-Khalifa Abdullah, has assured the need to pay attention to refugee issues in the state, and how to provide basic services to camps and host communities, especially clean drinking water.
This came when the governor addressed a joint meeting between the Government of White Nile State and visiting American delegation of donors Monday, in the presence of the Humanitarian Aid Commission, the refugee commission in the state, delegation of the UN High Commission for Refugees, UNICEF and the World Food Program.
He added that the White Nile State bore great burdens as a result of hosting more than 250000 refugees distributed in ten camps in the two localities of Salam and Al Jabaleen.
He called on donors to provide the necessary services to the state, especially the localities that host large numbers of refugees.
For her part, head of the visiting US delegation, praised the efforts of the White Nile government to bear the burden of hosting the refugees, indicating that their visit to the state that will last for three days aims at getting acquainted with the real partners and evaluating the projects presented to the refugees by meeting officials of the state, the local community and the refugees to know the current situation and the vision to develop the provision of necessary services to refugees and the local community.
