Atbara, Aug. 25 (SUNA) – Wali (Governor) of River Nile State Dr. Amna Ahmed Mohamed Ahmed received Tuesday at the railway station in Atbara, head of the United Nations Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS) Volker Perthes, in the presence of a number of members of her government.
In a meeting at the General Secretariat of the government of the River Nile State in Al-Dammar, the Wali welcomed the UN mission that came to the country after the glorious December Revolution to support the democratic transition.
She noted that one of the most important factors for realization of political stability is the provision of basic services to citizens, stressing the importance of boosting education and rehabilitation of the railways for its role in the economic and social development.
On, his part, the head of the United Nations Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan pointed out that the task of the mission is to support Sudan to achieve democratic transition through the agencies of the United Nations.
